Getting targeted traffic to your website

Many small businesses don’t get the success they want from advertising due to the availability of very little resources. These results are due to a lack of good ideas for improvements. Whether the ads are put in a local newspaper or are printed in a famous periodical or posted on a website, the money invested should gain the desired outcome. There are some common mistakes small businesses and professional service providers do when designing and posting the advertisement, which leads to the failure of the advertisement.

Bigger is better is believed in by many. That’s exactly what some of the small firms think when they want to advertise their product. They think bigger and select sites where they must invest a lot of money, but do not reach their targeted market. Like if a company specializes in designing diet plans and wants to help out people who had disappointing results from their individual diet plans, and the company chooses to advertise on a marketing website instead of running the advertisement on a health site, obviously not many of the dieters will notice the advertisement and the ad doesn’t get the desired attention.

So the point is to come up with the best campaign, which will increase the probability of the ad getting viewed by the right customers and persuade them to buy the product or sign up for the service you are providing. Marketing research can be carried out on your niche and your target audience can be narrowed down. Once getting the list of websites meant for the customers you are targeting, find out how many visitors they have and the cost they ask for posting the ad. Special deals are offered by them from time to time and can only be found by watchful eye.

It is estimated that everyday people are subjected to around three thousand commercial advertisements. That is a huge number and if someone desires to be noticed, he should certainly be different. Not only the services and product sold should be unique in the market, so should be the advertisement.  For example, if a business selling mattresses says, “We sell mattresses”, it will not make a statement and will be passed off as any other mattress advertisement. But if they say, “Our mattresses are of the finest quality”, it will make the advertisement stand out in the crowd. Other catch lines are “Are you suffering from back pain? Then you must try our mattresses ”, are more specific and will catch the fancy of the people who are suffering from back pain for a long time. The advertisement should also focus on the uniqueness of the product and how it is better compared to a competitors’ product.

Focusing on the problems of the customers and giving a solution for them, is what a customer demands. A customer does not buy a product; he buys benefits in the form of a product. The real value of the product should be realized and a clear picture of it should be presented to the customer so he will be able to relate his situation to the product. If the advertisement doesn’t specify the solution it can provide, the customers will never know of it. So focusing on the customers problem is what some advertisements miss.

The last thing missing in most of the advertisement is motivation for the customers. If the advertiser has designed the ad and the customer has read the it, all efforts and the money invested will be wasted if he doesn’t get up and do something about it. It shouldn’t be assumed that the customer knows what to do; instead the advertisement should influence the mind of the customer and should tell him what to do. A call of action is the final job of the advertisement. It should be a call for information (by subscribing to your mailing list), or visiting your website to learn more or even visiting the online store directly to make their purchase. Your message should sound confident and be clear as to what steps the reader should take next.

Getting customers to your site should always be ranked as high as the importance of the quality and the excellence of the product and the services you provide. They should go hand in hand in providing your customers the satisfaction they get in exchange for the money they have paid you for them. Customer service should also be fantastic so that the customers are provided with the same satisfaction.

One of the ways you can combine marketing and customer service is through opt-in marketing. With an opt-in list you get the opportunity to introduce your site and products on a good time basis. Opt-in marketing strategy is a marketing strategy that is virtually low cost and not time consuming. Here, you get the consent of your website visitors to subscribe to your newsletters and other promotional materials such as your products, free promotions and affiliate items.

Opt-in marketing uses your list of subscribers to send e-mail to. These e-mails will contain the materials you will send to your subscribers. It is essential that you present your promotional items in a manner that will catch the interest and the eye of your subscribers to keep them wanting for more. The best way to do this is to provide fun, entertaining and informative articles.

Well written articles full of content and useful information will help in building your list as more subscribers will be enticed to opt-in to your list. When they have read the samples of your content on your sites, they will be intrigued as to what will come next. Subscribing to your newsletter will offer them a better look of what you have to offer.

Many sites and companies have captured the importance of articles and this also aids in search engine optimization. As more people are heading towards the internet for their information needs, serving the right information to them via articles in your site will increase the flow of your website traffic.  With more traffic, the percentage of your sales will grow. More sales turn into more profit.

There has been a rise for well written, informative and keyword packed articles for the content of their site as well as for newsletters. These articles provide the information many are seeking on the internet. If your site has them, more people will be coming to your site for information and research.

Well written articles will also boost your sites reputation. If they are filled with useful information you will be regarded as well informed and an expert on the subjects in your niche.  Your articles must be well researched so that the people will trust you. When you have gained their trust, they will come to you for their needs on that subject.

In connection, you must write articles or commission them to tackle subjects that are closely connected with your niche. In example, if you have a site for a medicine tackling a certain disease, your articles must be about that disease. Or if you sell materials for home improvements, provide articles with those themes. Most articles searched for are tips, guidelines, methods, manuals and such. If you provide these articles to your customers and you have their trust, they will return to your site for help and advice as well as for your products.

With the loyalty of these customers, they may subscribe to your opt-in list to receive the information you have. If you provide them with the answers they need, they will be happy to receive your newsletters as well as other promotional materials to keep them well informed. Others may even forward your newsletters to other people when they find a certain article interesting.

You should provide links in your newsletter so that when other people are reading it and want more, they may click on the link and go to your site. With the quality, informative articles you have on your site, they may decide to sign up as well for your opt-in list. This will build your list and make it bigger.

Make sure to keep your subscribers happy and interested in your newsletters and promotional materials. Keep on posting and writing good articles for your site and newsletter. If you are not interested in writing them or if you just don’t have the time, there are many available well experienced and knowledgeable writers available to help you out. This is an investment that will pay for itself over time.

Redgage is a site that allows you to upload your content like many other sites out there… But, there is a difference. Redgage pays you for your content. Even if you weren’t getting paid for your content the site gives “do follow” links back to your other sites to help in your search engine rankings.

You can upload photos, videos, articles and documents to Redgage. You can also start your own blog on the site. If you had numerous niche sites that all fit into a much broader niche, you could start a blog in that broad niche and send a PR 4 (and quickly rising) back link to each of those sites or individual articles or pages from those sites.

How does Redgage pay? The amount you earn from posting on Redgage is determined by the quality of the content and how many visitors your content receives. You can also receive bonuses for having your content featured on the front page. They also have a daily raffle that you can win $25 dollars from. Submit content, invite friends and do other activities to get more entries into the raffle.

When you reach $25 in your account, Redgage will send you a Visa debit card with your payment. After the initial payment, all other money is added directly to your card, so its quick and easy.

Redgage is also a social network. It is important to make and add friends to your Redgage list and visit their content so they will, in turn, visit yours. Try to find peope to add that are interested in the niche that you are adding content about. You can view their content to learn or formulate ideas for your own content. They will also view your uploads for the same reason. If they are targeted to your niche and you are adding good content, then you will also get clicks back to your main site.

It should go without saying that backlinks are an important part of search engine optimization and page rank building. The more sites that link into your site the more important that the search engines (especially Google) believes it is. You can build backlinks by commenting on blogs, but most of them are “no follow” links, which Google does not recognize as a true backlink. Links from your Redgage content are all “do follow” and it is a PR 4 site, making it a good quality backlink.

You can add tags to your Redgage content, but be careful. Using spammy tagging tactics will get your content removed. Be sure that your tags match the content that you post. Don’t add tags just because they rank high in search engines if they do not relate to your upload.

Redgage is an excellent way to add PR 4 “do follow” backlinks to your sites while also making a little cash from that content. The backlinks should add more targeted traffic to your main site, which will increase your revenues there, as well. So check out Redgage (no affiliate link, just the site) and grab your slice of the pie before someone nabs it first!

Okay… Today I was checking out this new traffic site where your sites are viewed and commented on by other people. They call it social browsing… Pretty cool site for testing ads, but I’ll get back to that in a bit. Anyhow, you can look at all of the comments people left about your page and get feedback as to how effective your message is.

I had submitted a squeeze page for a free copy of my Viral Traffic Automator submitter software. One of the comments left was: “Why do they always want your email address?”… WTH? Okay, if you have to ask why someone would want your email addy in exchange for a free product you are either a newbie or you have been living under a rock somewhere, because if you are not building a list yourself: You are going to fail in this business!

You may be able to make a little money, but sooner or later all of that surfing, ad posting, solo mailing, etc gets old. Using free traffic sites are okay, but use them to build a list. Then use that list to sell your products or send your offers to. Most people on those sites will never take the time to read your long sales letter or watch your video. So, give them something of value in exchange for them subscribing to your list, instead.

With a good list, you never need to surf for credits or post ads or send solos. If you have a product to sell, you just log into your autoresponder account and send the offer to your list! They are there because you have given them something of value in the past and if you are offering something in the same niche, they should be interested… Right?

A list gives you the ultimate targeted traffic. You have people who want to hear from you. They trust your opinions (at least they should). They decided beforehand to let you send them offers in your niche when they subscribed.

My most important thing that I try to do on a daily basis is build my marketing list. Its more important than creating a new product or website. Its more important than the latest JV offer. Why? Because with that list, I have a targeted audience to sell my product or pitch some other’s that I am working as an affiliate for!

Frank Kern said in one of his videos that your list is the most important source of traffic that you can have. Better than SEO, PPC, exchanges, whatever. SEO is fickle because the search engines are always changing the rules. PPC can be cost prohibitive in a competitive niche. Exchanges do not provide targeted traffic. Your list is highly targeted and full of eager participants in your niche!

About exchanges… I’m not saying to not use them. I still run ads on click exchanges, safelists and text ad exchanges. They are highly untargeted and most of the people there are just viewing your site so that others will view theirs. So why would I use them? Because my list is my number one priority and I have added over 500 targeted subscribers to my lists in a 30 day period just using free exchanges. Wouldn’t you like an extra 6000 subscribers per year?

If your ads are short and to the point with a good call to action, you can attract subscribers… Even using the traffic exchanges. That is why I checked out Sweeva today.

Like I said earlier, Sweeva is a bit different than your standard click exchange. People actually stay on the site and look at your ad and give you feedback on it. If your ad is positively received with this highly untargeted audience, just think how well it will do with targeted traffic. I would recommend you checking it out, just to use as a site to test your ads on… If you’re testing squeeze pages, you will probably add some subscribers as well.

There are many more aspects to it that keep people glued to your page, but its too much to go into right here. You can sign up for free and then they have a nice info page that comes up and explains how it works when you log in for the first time so be sure to read it closely. There  is also at least one video in the members area to explain the bidding process used to get your site viewed. It should be a worthwile tool in your bag of tricks.

So get out there and build your list… Whatever advertising methods you choose to use… Always be building your list.
